June Challenge
Welcome to the June Challenge.
The month of June sees a lot of weddings.
Your challenge this month comes from a traditional rhyme.
Something Old
Something New
Something Borrowed
Something Blue
I found some history on the rhyme and must admit to never hearing the part about the sixpence before.
This tradition comes from an Old English rhyme ("Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe"), and the four objects that the bride adds to her wedding outfit or carries with her on the big day are just good luck charms. Don't stress too much about them -- they are the little tokens of love your mother, sister, other relatives, and attendants will give you at the eleventh hour (although you can give them to yourself, too). Something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity, although this remains largely a British custom.
Your challenge comes from the rhyme. I want you to use something old, something new and something blue. You can add something borrowed if you like but I thought it might be a touch tricky to include.
Here is what the talented design team did:

I love this theme as it lends itself to so much, I decided to make another tag. The 'old' is the lace that was cream but has not been inked blue, the 'new' is the stamp that I used to stamp into the UTEE, the 'borrowed' is the gold bobbles on wire which I borrowed from a pack of 'make your own crackers' (what will happen come Christmas I am not sure!) and the 'blue' is the overall colour of the tag.
I used my old papers from my stash, my new ribbons, borrowed the idea a wee Wedding Posy from here and stuck with a blue theme!
Kevin
I have used Old paper from my stash, a New sentiment and border punch and Blue heart decoupage
For SOMETHING OLD I used an old picture (back from my days in marching band, circa 1991!!), as well as a sheet of paper from a teacher's grade book. For SOMETHING NEW I have the Thickers, flower and pattern paper.
I made a flower from some old fabric, some new blue lace and an old navy blue button. I apologise for the photographic quality as I had to use my phone. I will take another photograph when I have access to a camera.
Last month we only had two entries and I think it is incredibly cruel to pick one as the winner so I am going to be generous and send you both a small prize. Lisa Jane and Sherryn please can you email your address to craftgardenshop@googlemail.com.
As always you can enter the challenge by following the inlinkz linky thingy below. You have until midnight GMT on 30th June to enter and there will be a small prize for a randomly picked winner.
