May Challenge

Our May challenge is a picture inspiration with a bit of history.

The following is taken from part of the report here

In medieval times, May Day was often celebrated by young men and women dancing on the village green around a specially-decorated tree called a maypole.

The branches of a slender tree were cut off, coloured ribbons tied to the top and the revellers held on to the ends of the ribbons and danced. Some villages still carry on the tradition today.

Before the dancing began there was also a procession led by a woman appointed May Queen for the day. Sometimes she was accompanied by a May King, who dressed in green to symbolise springtime and fertility.

Your challenge this month is to use this picture for your inspiration

Here is what the Design Team did:

May Challenge

There is a saying - 'don't cast a clout till May be out' which means (where I come from anyway) don't pack away your winter clothes too early because May can produce some winterlike weather.  It can also mean the Mayflower (Hawthorn) and in gardening terms don't put out your tender plants until the may has flowered.

So with that saying in mind about the clothes part of it I had a looksie around the interweb at spring fashion pictures and borrowed this colour palette as your picture inspiration for this month.  Aren't those colours just divine together?

As always you can enter any craft project you wish inspired by the above colour palette.  I love to see new types of crafts being entered. Entry is by inlinkz below and entries will close at 23:59 GMT on 31st May 2010.

Your prize this month is a pack of MOD techno pop embellishments and (because of the colour theme of the challenge) some Prima Rebellious flowers
